Schedule 1: Position Description


Purpose:


This position is to provide our French speaking customers (online students) with a point of
contact and to promptly respond with professional and courteous communication.

Role:

Office skills

  • Must have own computer and access to good internet
  • Must be computer literate
  • Knowledge of software programs (Word, Excel, Google Suite).
  • Working knowledge of Moodle, Slack, Joomla, FreshDesk and possible other programs is an asset. Training will be provided to the successful applicant.
  • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures and systems

Customer Service

  • Assist Client Services and Accounts Officer when needed.
  • Provide customers who email IIHL and/or Health-e-Learning.com with relevant and appropriate information or solutions to their user problems.
  • Refer any sales enquiries to the directors of IIHL.
  • Assist to provide first tier online technical support for clients and customers and refer to Technical Officer as needed.

Online Services

  • Assist in editing non-programmable items into the IIHL and/or Health-e-learning.com website e.g. news items (occasional and small translations from English to French or French to English)
  • Assist with the quarterly French-newsletters and occasional promotional announcements.

General

  • Undertake projects as directed by supervisor or IIHL management.
  • Attend occasional meetings as required (online).
  • IIHL maintains a teamwork approach to services offered. Assist other workers asrequired.
  • Assist with office documentation/resources into the IIHL and/or Health-e-learning.com procedures manual.

Other duties as directed by the management

  • Assist with general reception and office duties
  • Assist with reporting to accrediting agencies (ie: IBLCE, professional orders, etc)
  • Assist with customer and/or client invoices and/or refunds with aid of Technical Officer and/or Directors
  • Other duties as directed by the management

Conditions:

  • Working hours:
    • The contractor will undertake work tasks for a period of 5 hours per week during advertised office hours, unless otherwise mutually agreed (Monday to Friday).
    • Flexible (must login to check emails Monday mornings and at least Friday afternoons)
    • Connect daily (Monday to Thursday) with Client Services and Accounts Officer in Afternoon (based in Australia)
    • Occasional replacement work for Client Services and Accounts Officer (approximately 4 weeks a year)
    • The contractor shall record hours.
    • The contractor will log into Slack during mutually agreed upon work hours.
  • Work tasks and communications will be conducted online, unless otherwise mutually agreed.
  • IIHL is responsible for monitoring the work performance of the contractor
  • Services will be provided from the premises of the contractor or otherwise by mutual agreement.
  • The contractor will negotiate absences with IIHL at least one month in advance.
  • Prearranged absences not to exceed 2 weeks per 6 months period.

Remuneration:

  • IIHL will contract on an hourly basis.
  • Payment in Canadian dollars
  • The contractor will invoice IIHL every two weeks.
  • Hourly rate be discussed during interview

Reflection

As we come to a close of 2022 there is a lot to reflect on in the world. The past few years have given us all an opportunity to reflect on our practices and how we provide services. They have also highlighted many challenging areas yet given us the opportunity to realise our ability to be flexible, think outside the box, and to provide hope.

Lactation, breastfeeding, chestfeeding, bodyfeeding are all inclusive to supporting a world with hope and acceptance. All of us that work in this field have at one stage or another thought that what we do can change the world, and it can. As lactation professionals, we have the ability to share knowledge with others and to guide our colleagues, communities and our governments in a direction that will benefit all.
